Sources: Temple fortifying defense with top young analyst from FCS program (Everett Withers)

Jordan Hopkins has climbed steadily in the Football Championship Subdivision coaching ranks, in addition to some graduate assistant work under Willie Fritz & Co. at Tulane.

Now Hopkins is garnering a potentially major break, sources share with FootballScoop.

Hopkins is joining the Temple University football staff, where he will serve as a lead defensive analyst for Owls defensive coordinator Everett Withers.

Hopkins is noted for his work with outside linebackers, and Withers is among the game's most respected defensive leaders.

Arriving at Temple after spending the past season coaching the defensive line at FCS program Northwestern State in Louisiana, Hopkins also has past experience coaching at Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe and UTEP.

Temple is seeking to move past a difficult 2022 debut season for head coach Stan Drayton, when the Owls scuffled to an 3-9 finish.

Drayton's second Temple team opens its 2023 season Sept. 2 against Akron in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles.
