Ricky Ciccone has helped Toledo land some of the top recruiting classes the last several seasons, and now is set to leave for a new challenge.
Sources tell FootballScoop that the director of player personnel for the Rockets is taking his recruiting talents to Louisiana.
He is expected to work in the same capacity for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Ciccone has been part of the Toledo staff since 2016, when he initially joined the staff as director of high school relations. He spent two seasons in that role before moving to nickel backs / recruiting coordinator in 2018, and moved to an off-field role in 2019 as director of player personnel and recruiting coordinator.
As the man behind the scenes of Toledo's recruiting success, Ciccone has helped the Rockets land the top recruiting class in the MAC in five of the past seven seasons.
Before joining the FBS ranks, Ciccone coached at the Division II and III levels at Bluffton, Kenyon and Ohio Dominican and had high school stops at a few Ohio schools including Olentangy (OH), Tri-Valley (OH) and Marietta (OH).
Ciccone joins the staff of Michael Desormeaux who signed 26 players in the 2023 class after a 6-7 debut season. That number put them as the largest signing class in the Sun Belt this cycle. Their class is currently ranked fifth in the league behind Arkansas State, Appalachian State, Southern Miss and South Alabama, according to 247.
