Following a season where he garnered a number of awards, including the NAIA Region 5 Coach of the Year award from the AFCA, Drew Maddox made the decision to take an opportunity at the Division I level.
Maddox recently left Louisiana Christian (NAIA) for the defensive line job at Southeast Missouri State (FCS).
He led the program to a 9-2 campaign this past fall, notching the most wins in school history and also capturing the conference title.
Maddox went 22-16 in four seasons leading the program.
To fill the opening, sources confirm that Louisiana Christian is turning to former LCU standout quarterback Ben McLaughlin.

McLaughlin, who has been serving as the head coach at Buckeye HS (Woodworth, LA), finished his career as the most decorated passer in American Southwest Conference history, throwing for over 12,000 yards and 111 touchdowns in his career.
A former finalist for Division III's Gagliardi Trophy, McLaughlin was inducted into the LCU Hall of Fame in 2015, and previously coached running backs for the program following his graduation, spending 2011 and 2012 coaching for his alma mater before leaving to become the offensive coordinator at the Junior College level at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
A press conference is expected later today to formally announce the move.
