Sources: Chattanooga adding defensive assistant with ACC experience (ACC)

Ken Lucky is leaving a defensive coordinator post for a shot coaching in the FCS ranks.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Lucky is set to become the new cornerbacks coach in Rusty Wright's Chattanooga program.

Most recently, Lucky spent the 2024 season as Point University's co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach.

But the Ohio native and former Ohio Bobcat isn't unfamiliar with the region; he previously served on staff at Georgia Tech in 2022.

In addition to spending several seasons on staff at his alma mater, Lucky also has coached at FCS programs Dayton and Morehead State.

Chattanooga, which finished 7-5 in 2024, including an 5-3 mark in the Southern Conference and just missed an at-large berth into the FCS Playoffs, is slated to open its 2025 season Aug. 30 at in-state foe Memphis, which is coming off one of the best seasons in program history under the guidance of Ryan Silverfield.

The Tigers finished the 2024 campaign with an 11-2 mark and ranked in the final AP Top 25.
