Ravens reportedly expected to hire Willie Taggart

Veteran college head coach Willie Taggart is expected to land an NFL assistant coaching job, according to a report today.

Tom Pelissero tweets that Taggart is set to join the staff of John Harbaugh with the Ravens as their new running backs coach.

The move would mark the first NFL coaching opportunity for Taggart, who had been reportedly set to join the staff of Deion Sanders at Colorado recently.

Taggart carved out an identity coaching the offensive skill players at Western Kentucky before moving to running backs at Stanford from 2007-09 working under Jim Harbaugh.

Their success there helped him return to WKU as head caoch, where he turned the Hilltoppers around from a 2-10 first season to back-to-back 7-win seasons in year two and three.

He would go on to lead programs at South Florida, Oregon, Florida State, and FAU, carrying a career college head coaching record of 71-80.

Over a decade after working under Jim Harbaugh on the west coast in Palo Alto, Taggart is heading to join John Harbaugh's staff on the east coast in Baltimore.
