Paul Vosburgh announces retirement after over three decades leading St. Johns Fisher (Paul Vosburgh)

Back in the 1990's, the football program at St. John Fisher (D-III - NY) was a club sport and Paul Vosburgh led the charge to transition the program to the NCAA Division III level.

Over the past three decades, Vosburgh worked diligently to successfully build one of the most consistent programs in small college football.

Today, after nearly 200 wins, Vosburgh announced his retirement from the program after 34 seasons.

He entered this past season as the second-longest active tenured head coach in all of Division III, and leaves with an overall record at St. Johns Fisher of 181-155.

Vosburgh won a total of six Empire 8 Conference titles, he led the Cardinals to seasons of 10 or more five times, and collected 129 wins from 2003-19, averaging about eight wins per season.

“I am most proud of our players and the great people they have turned out to be,” Vosburgh shared in the school's release. “It has always been about them. They weren’t just football players. They have become good citizens, good parents, and they have done well for themselves in their careers. To see that they came through our program and have excelled beyond our program – that is what I am most proud of after all of these years.”

Before taking over the Cardinals program, Vosburgh was the defensive coordinator at William Penn (NAIA - IA) before eventually spending three seasons there as head coach.

He leaves the coaching profession with a career record of 192-173-1 between the two stops.
