Ole Miss reportedly adding veteran FBS  defensive coordinator to support staff (Lou Spanos)

Veteran coordinator Lou Spanos is set to join Lane Kiffin's staff, according to a report this morning.

Matt Zenitz shares that Spanos is set to join the Ole Miss staff as an analyst.

Spanos, who had most recently been on staff at UConn for a few seasons as their defensive coordinator, spent ten games of the 2021 season as the program's interim head coach.

He was initially retained by new UConn head coach Jim Mora, and the two had worked together during Mora's first two seasons at UCLA previously, but ten days before the 2022 season opener against Utah State, it was announced that Spanos was taking a leave of absence citing personal reasons.

Before joining the UConn staff in 2019 as defensive coordinator, Spanos spent one season at Alabama as an analyst, and was the linebackers coach for the Titans for a few seasons.

He has previous coordinator experience as the defensive coordinator at UCLA for two seasons in 2012-13.
