Noted college football GM, personnel executive Courtney Morgan joins Kalen DeBoer at Alabama (Alabama)

Less than three years ago, Courtney Morgan made his return home to his college alma mater -- Michigan, where he played for Lloyd Carr -- and joined Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh's staff in a player personnel role.

Some six months later, Kalen DeBoer hired away Morgan and tabbed him atop the Washington Huskies' personnel department.

Morgan then was elevated to Washington's general manager role.

Now, Morgan is headed to Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Sources told FootballScoop that Morgan accompanied DeBoer on his cross-country flight from Seattle to Tuscaloosa late Friday evening.

DeBoer is expected to bring a number of Washington coaches and staffers with him as he embarks on the daunting task of following record-setting coach Nick Saban on the heels of Saban's midweek retirement after a career including seven NCAA national championships.

Alabama has had among the most robust off-the-field departments in all of college football during the Saban era.

In addition to the work of top personnel executive Bob Welton for the past six-plus years, the Crimson Tide have had such a phalanx of off-the-field staff members in recruiting, analyst and quality control roles that other programs have attempted to model Alabama's devotion of resources -- most notably Georgia and Florida.
