Montana State reportedly makes a coordinator change (willie mack garza)

After finishing the regular season among the top five in the FCS teams in the country, Montana State is reportedly making a coordinator change.

The Bobcats, who were 8-3 through their first 11 games heading into the playoffs,  are not renewing the contract of defensive coordinator Willie Mack Garza, according to a report from 247 this morning.

A college coaching veteran, Garza had spent the past two seasons leading the Bobcats defense.

His defense ranked among the top 25 nationally in 3rd down conversion percentage (34%), turnover margin (21st - .58), tied for 12th in defensive touchdowns (3), and 31st nationally in total defense.

He had previous FBS coaching stops at Western Michigan, TCU, Tennessee, USC and Wyoming where he worked with the secondary in various capacities at each respective stop.

Before coming to Montana State, Garza coached the safeties at McNeese state for two seasons and prior to that was at Wyoming coaching the Cowboys safeties for a year.
