Sources tell FootballScoop that Michigan is adding Dallas Cowboys defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist as a co-defensive coordinator on Jim Harbaugh's staff.
A number of reports have shared the news this afternoon, and FootballScoop can confirm the hire after hearing chatter of the Wolverines interest in Linguist the past several days.
Linguist has a wealth of FBS coaching experience, including stops working with the secondary at Buffalo, Iowa State, Mississippi State, Minnesota and Texas A&M.
Last season in Dallas was Linguist's first venture into the NFL.
The addition of Linguist is a product of a defensive staff overhaul in Ann Arbor following the dismissal of defensive coordinator Don Brown after a disappointing season, and the result of not renewing a number of contracts for a few other coaches.
Ravens linebackers coach Mike MacDonald was named the Jim Harbaugh's new defensive coordinator last week.
