James Colzie, Florida A&M elevate Joe Henry into top assistant role (meac)

Joe Henry, Florida A&M's offensive coordinator the previous two seasons, is adding a new set of responsibilities to his role.

New Rattlers head coach James Colzie III is elevating Henry to the role of assistant head coach.

Already, Henry has served the past two seasons -- the final campaigns for former head coach Willie Simmons, who departed to coach running backs at Duke -- as FAMU's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

Henry helped the Rattlers to a 12-win campaign last fall that culminated with a postseason victory in the Celebration Bowl, effectively the HBCU national championship contest.

In addition to a pair of stints on staff at Florida A&M, Henry also has coached in the Southeastern Conference; he coached the offensive lines at both LSU and Arkansas in the years preceding his 2022 arrival at Florida A&M.

Additionally, Henry also worked with the tight ends and offensive line at Missouri.

A former wideout at Arkansas, Henry actually has coached on both sides of the ball during his career climb; he spent a season coaching the defensive line at Birmingham Southern and also worked in Alabama at UAB.

The Rattlers will play among the earliest games to kick off the 2024 college football season when they face Norfolk State in the annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Atlanta.
