Eagles hire Temple defensive coordinator DJ Eliot (Temple)

Temple defensive coordinator DJ Eliot has been announced as the new linebackers coach on Nick Sirianni's staff.

Eliot spent one season with the Owls, and is a veteran defensive coordinator of the college ranks.

This marks his first opportunity in the NFL after over three decades in the coaching profession.

Eliot has coached every defensive position, with stops at Texas State, Tulsa, Rice, and Florida State after beginning his career as a graduate assistant at Wyoming and Houston.

His first coordinating opportunity came at Kentucky on Mark Stoops' initial staff in 2013.

He would go on to hold the defensive coordinator title at Colorado and Kansas before stepping away from college football for a few seasons, eventually resurfacing as the defensive coordinator on Stan Drayton's initial staff in Philadelphia.

With the Eagles, he joins a revamped defensive staff that will work under new defensive coordinator Sean Desai as the Eagles look for a return trip (with a different end result) to the Super Bowl.
