Every coach fortunate to play with his his team this fall was forced to come up with contingency plan after contingency plan in the event that a coach, or player(s) were unavailable due to COVID.

It's hard to imagine any program had a luxury like Lincoln Riley had while creating his contingency plans for the Sooners.

According to his comments at his presser today, Riley has been able to pull former Sooners head coach Bob Stoops back into coaching, even if it's only temporarily.

Riley shared that Stoops, who retired as the Sooners head coach back in June of 2017, has come out of retirement and is back out on the practice field helping the program while they have some coaches out due to COVID related reasons. Bob's son, Drake, is a receiver with the program who caught his first college touchdown in late September against Kansas State.

Stoops has remained an "institutional staff member" and will be able to coach on Saturday if the game proceeds as planned, according to Sooner Scoop.

It looks like Riley may have had a little fun in announcing Stoops' recent involvement from the looks of it too, referring to Stoops as a local tequila salesman who is helping out for the week.

Where does the tequila punchline come from? Stoops, who most recently served as a head coach in the XFL with the Dallas Renegades, spent some time in Florida last November, and while rumors swirled that he was interviewing for the Florida State opening, he was simply promoting a tequila brand.
