Following Al Bagnoli's sudden retirement back in August following a historic career, Columbia (FCS - NY) moved quickly to appoint associate head coach / offensive coordinator Mark Fabish as the team's interim head coach.
After a 3-7 campaign under the leadership of Fabish, Columbia has announced a national search for their new head coach.
"We are grateful to and his staff for their hard work and dedication throughout the season." Peter Pilling shared in their release.
"Our student-athletes are remarkable for their dedication to the institution and their resilience. We could not be more proud about how they have represented our football program and this great university."
Pilling adds in the release that the goals of Columbia football are the overall development of student athletes in all areas of their experience at Columbia, and to win Ivy league championships.
He also shares that as they embark on this search they're looking for someone to "pursue competitive excellence and instill pride in the Columbia community, especially our football alumni."
The coaching change marks the second move in the Ivy League, as Cornell parted ways with longtime head coach David Archer earlier this week.
