Miami Northwestern HS (FL) has rattled off three straight state titles and is undoubtedly one of the top football programs in The Sunshine State, and many consider them to be a top program nationally as well.
But the program is in some hot water after pictures and videos of a practice, which was attended by a few dozen players, were shared with local outlets and have circulated over the weekend. The practice violated social distancing measure that were in effect as well as Miami-Dade's COVID-19 safety guidelines that were put in place.
According to local reports, including this one from WSVN 7 News Miami, Bulls head coach Max Edwards has been suspended indefinitely and the school's administration has since launched an investigation. The following statement was shared via WSVN:
“The school’s administration launched an investigation as soon as it learned about this unauthorized athletic activity. The head coach has been suspended pending the outcome of this matter and further action may be taken against others who may have been involved in this unsanctioned event. The school is in the process of communicating with parents of students who may have participated.”
Edwards took over the Miami Northwestern program back in 2015 and has put together a 51-16 record with three-straight state titles. He previously served as a longtime assistant for the program before landing the head job.
