Sources: Southeast Missouri adding pair of defensive coaches (Iowa State)

Bobby McMillen, a former Iowa State linebacker, and Chase Johnson are joining the Southeast Missouri State coaching staff, FootballScoop has learned.

McMillen arrives to the SEMO program with considerable FBS experience, both from his playing days and much of his coaching career. He will coach inside linebackers for the Redhawks.

He's previously been on staff at Utah State, New Mexico State and was a special teams analyst at TCU.

Set to serve as both the nickels coach and recruiting coordinator, Johnson arrives at SEMO after an extended run at his alma mater.

He played for Pittsburg State from 2019-21, spent a year at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and then returned to his alma mater as the program's special teams coordinator in spring 2023.

Under head coach Tom Matukewicz, SEMO posted a 9-4 campaign in 2024, which ended with a first-round loss to Illinois State in the FCS Playoffs.

The Redhawks open their 2025 season Aug. 30 against Butch Jones's Arkansas State program.
