Notre Dame just polished off a 10-win season with its dominant performance against Oregon State in the Sun Bowl, recently inked one of its top recruiting classes in a decade and has navigated the transition from offensive coordinator Gerad Parker to incoming signal-caller Mike Denbrock.
As FootballScoop first reported two weeks ago, the Irish also have their new head strength and conditioning coach in Loren Landow.
Parker, meanwhile, continues to assemble his first-ever staff as a first-time head coach at Troy University, where Parker looks to replicate the success of his former Kentucky teammate Jon Sumrall -- now the head coach at Tulane.
Parker's made most of his defensive hires, he's zeroed in on a strength coach and he's adding Logan Meyer into a general manager role.
Now, sources tell FootballScoop, Parker has his first-ever director of player personnel.
Caleb Davis, who's spent the past three years as a recruiting analyst and been a key cog in Chad Bowden's Notre Dame Fighting Irish recruiting machine, is set to become Parker's DPP at Troy University, multiple sources told FootballScoop.
Davis was on the sidelines Friday with Notre Dame as it routed Oregon State in a 32-point win that served as the largest margin of victory all-time for the Fighting Irish in a bowl game.
Davis had a hand in helping build that roster; he floated duties at Notre Dame, where he performed tasks that ranged from poring over scouting video to serving as a key point-man for recruits during their visits.
Additionally, Davis had a key role in scouting for Notre Dame's fabled walk-on program; indeed, he was among the first Irish staffers to identify and scout Luke Talich in the 2023 class. Talich had numerous FBS offers, including from Utah, but elected to walk on at Notre Dame in 2023. Talich became a special teams contributor for the Irish this fall before he suffered a season-ending injury.
Under Bowden's guidance, with help from Davis, Carter Auman, Dre Brown, Zaire Turner and Mackenzie Zanow, Notre Dame earlier this month inked a 2024 signing class that ranked No. 10 nationally by 247Sports, strengthened by 15 four-star prospects and a five-star signee, as well as landing coveted QB Riley Leonard from Duke via the NCAA Transfer Portal.
It's the consensus highest-rated Irish recruiting class in approximately a decade.
Davis first arrived at Notre Dame in the months after Freeman was hired as Irish defensive coordinator in January 2021. First working in an unpaid role, Davis climbed into a full-time position and became a mainstay in Notre Dame's amped-up recruiting efforts under Freeman.
Now, Davis reunites with Parker and has a chance to put his stamp atop personnel operations at Troy.
