Source: Florida losing an assistant to a FCS head coaching opportunity (Featured)

Source tells FootballScoop that Florida tight ends coach Larry Scott is expected to become the new head coach at Howard (FCS - Washington, DC).

Multiple outlets are reporting the same.

Ron Prince, the former head coach at Kansas State who had led the Howard program, resigned after going 1-8 in his only season leading the program following allegations of verbal abuse and player mistreatment.

This marks the first college head coaching opportunity for Larry Scott, outside of leading Miami (FL) on an interim basis back in 2015. The majority of Scott's coaching experience has come in the Sunshine State with stints at South Florida, Miami, and Florida, in addition to coaching stops at Freedom HS (FL) and Sebring HS (FL). Scott also spent 2016 as the tight ends coach at Tennessee before being elevated to offensive coordinator in 2017.

While the interim head coach at Miami (FL) back in 2015, Scott lead the team to a 4-2 mark that included a win over a ranked Duke squad at the time.

The hire will make Scott the program's third head coach in as many seasons. Before Prince, the program was led by former Virginia head coach Mike London in 2017 and 2018.
