Report: LSU beefs up support staff with the addition of an NFL coaching veteran (Kyle Caskey)

This off season, when Ed Orgeron has had a spot to fill on his staff, he's been looking to candidates with NFL experience.

With an analyst role to fill, Orgeron kept that theme going, according to a report this evening.

Brody Miller shares that LSU is adding former Lions running backs coach Kyle Caskey to the staff as an offensive analyst.

Caskey spent the last two seasons on Matt Patricia's staff. He was not retained as a part of Dan Campbell's staff.

Prior to that, he spent nearly a decade coaching the running backs for the Bengals after being promoted from assistant offensive line coach for the organization in 2013.

The hire is just the latest addition of NFL experience to Orgeron's coaching staff.

This off season, Orgeron filled his offensive coordinator and passing game coordinator roles with guys from the Joe Brady coaching tree (or sapling, considering how young it is) with the additions of Jake Peetz (OC) and DJ Mangas (pass game coordinator), respectively.

On the other side of the ball, Andre Carter was hired back in January to work with the defensive line after spending the past four seasons in the NFL, most recently coaching the defensive line for the Jets after coaching the Dolphins defensive line coach for two seasons.
