Report: Coastal Carolina is working on a major extension for Jamey Chadwell (Jamey Chadwell)

According to a report today from Pete Thamel, Coastal Carolina is working on a major extension to keep head coach Jamey Chadwell as the head coach of the Chanticleers.

FootballScoop can confirm the Chanticleers are working on this deal, which we are told will include a very meaningful raise.

Thamel shares that the extension is for seven-years and includes "holistic program improvements as well as a significant raise."

Chadwell, who was a candidate for the South Carolina opening that went to Shane Beamer, has Coastal Carolina sitting at 10-0, and coming off a big win over previously undefeated BYU in the program's first appearance on College GameDay last weekend.

Coastal Carolina has only been playing FBS football since 2017, and Chadwell currently has the Chanticleers ranked in the top 15 in the country.

In January of 2017 Chadwell was named offensive coordinator at the school following a 35-14 run as the head coach at Charleston Southern (FCS). Later in June that same year, head coach Joe Moglia stepped away due to medical reasons, and Chadwell took over until Moglia was medically cleared to return in January of 2018.

A year later, in 2019, Moglia stepped down and Chadwell was named the full-time head coach.

The ink drying on this one is going to be important, as more schools will certainly be targeting Chadwell's services.
