Penn State's staff is putting on a clinic on how to recognize hard work on Twitter (Penn State)

A number of college coaching staffs are using Twitter brilliantly this off season, and one of the first to come to mind is James Franklin's staff at Penn State.

The latest example of how they're capitalizing with social media comes via offensive line coach Herb Hand who takes a few minutes after practice to recognize one of his offensive lineman's hard work during practice.

Today's example was freshman offensive lineman Noah Beh.

A quick look at some of the assistants Twitter accounts reveals the same strategy.

I find this to be a great tactic that high school staffs should look to imitate. Take a freshman, JV, or Varsity player (or break it down by position like Penn State does) that has gone above and beyond with his effort on the field, or in the classroom, and give them some love via social media.

Not only is it great for the individual being honored (who may get recognition nowhere else for the day or week) but it's a great move for building a culture of making effort important during practice, and lets players know that they're being evaluated on a daily basis.

It's really a win-win for everyone involved.
