After successful stints as the head coach at Hawaii and Washington State, Nick Rolovich has been out of college football since October of 2021 following his refusal to get the COVID vaccine as mandated by all state employees in the state of Washington.
Rolovich has since launched a legal attack against his former employer (which is continuing to play out) while contributing as a coach at the high school level.
Now, he's set to make a return to the sidelines. This time in the XFL's relaunch.
According to multiple reports, Rolo will be the new offensive coordinator for the Seattle Sea Dragons for the 2024 season.
The franchise, led by Jim Haslett, brought former Hawaii head coach June Jones in as offensive coordinator originally, and appear set to hand the reigns of the offense to Rolovich, who has a wealth of experience running variations of the Run-and-Shoot offense as both a player under Jones, as well as coordinator and head coach.
Rolovich went 28-27 as the head coach at Hawaii from 2016-2019, finishing 10-5 in his final season on the island.
He left to take over Washington State following Mike Leach's departure for Mississippi State heading into the 2020 season, and was 5-6 through 11 games before he and four of his assistants were let go for failing to comply with the state's vaccination mandate.
