Following a disappointing 1-6 start, veteran Adrian College (D-III - MI) head coach Jim Deere has submitted his resignation.
Offensive coordinator Harry Bailey, a 2009 graduate of Adrian, has been named the team's interim head coach.
The resignation of Deere came after the Bulldogs fourth straight loss of the season to Kalamazoo College this past Saturday.
In his 14-year tenure leading the program, Deere held an overall record of 76-60. He led Adrian to MIAA titles in 2012 and 2014.
The school has announced that a national search for the program's new head coach will commence following the end of the season.
An impressive show of consistency, Adrian's next head coach will be just the team's third since 1990.
Jim Lyall previously had a successful twenty year run leading the program from 1990-2009, where he ended on an impressive 55-25 run over his final eight seasons with the program.
Deere was an assistant under Lyall for a decade before being elevated to the head coaching role.
Adrian ends the season with games against home games against Albion (5-1), and defending MIAA champion Alma (6-0), before hitting the road in their season finale to take on Olivet (3-3).
