After helping Urban Meyer build the Florida program into a dynasty working as his offensive line coach, Steve Addazio went on to lead programs at Temple, Boston College and Colorado State.
He spent the last two seasons on staff with Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M as the Aggies offensive line coach, but now he has a new assignment.
ESPN has announced Addazio as the latest former college football head coach turned analyst added to their fall roster.
While a full announcement of ESPN's in-game commentary team will be made in August, they did disclose that Addazio will work alongside play-by-play analyst Clay Matvick.
A college coaching veteran and highly regarded offensive line coach, Addazio spent time at programs like Syracuse, Indiana, and Notre Dame before joining the Gators staff under Meyer, where he helped lead the Gators to two national titles.
After going 13-11 at Temple, Addazio took the Boston College job, but was unable to break the ceiling of 7-6 in his seven seasons with the Eagles. He would lead the program to seven wins in five of his seven seasons there, leaving with a 44-44 record to take over at Colorado State in 2020.
After a 1-3 initial season during the COVID-impacted 2020 year, Addazio went 3-9 his second season and was ultimately let go in December of 2021 following a season that saw him become just the second college head football coach to be ejected after two unsportsmanlike penalties in a game against Nevada earlier in the year.
