So far, Mike Vrabel's staff in his return to New England has been largely made up of guys he previously worked with while with the Titans.
His defensive coordinator Terrell Williams joins after a few seasons with the Detroit Lions and previously coached alongside him in Tennessee, and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels returns to New England for his third stint as the team's offensive coordinator.
Now word is this morning that Vrabel is set to add a veteran coach with both college and NFL head coaching experience to his staff.
Mike Reiss reports this morning that former Bills and Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone will be joining the Patriots staff in a role yet to be determined.
Marrone spent last season as a senior analyst for football strategy on staff with Bill O'Brien at Boston College.
A well regarded offensive line coach, Marrone coached the offensive line for the Saints in 2022 and 2023, and spent a season on Nick Saban's star-studded staff at Alabama in 2021.
He holds a 23-43 record as an NFL head coach, leading the Jaguars to the playoffs once in his seven seasons atop NFL teams with a 10-6 season in 2017.
Before the jump to the NFL, he spent four seasons as the head coach at Syracuse, where he had two 8-win seasons and won a share of the Big East title in 2012.
