"Coaches and players win games. Administrations win championships."

We've all heard some form of the phrase, "offense may put people in the stands but defense wins championships." Whether you agree with it or not is a topic for another time.

At Big 12 Media Day today, Tom Herman shared a spin on that traditional line of thinking when talking about how big of a hire Texas made when the brought in TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte to lead Longhorn athletics.

Whether you're leading an NFL team, or a college or high school program, you really need to be on the same page with your front office or administration in order to win at the highest level. There are no shortage of really good coaches out there, especially at the school level, who eventually get burnt out battling with their adminstration over things both big, and super small. When you're trying to win at the highest level, those types of battles become major unnecessary headaches for a lot of guys, and at the end of the day something has to give.
