Brennan Marion reportedly finalizing deal to become next Sacramento State head coach (Brennan Marion)

After previously calling the offenses at the FCS with stops at Howard and William & Mary, Barry Odom gave Brennan Marion his first opportunity to bring his GoGo offense to the FBS stage.

In their two seasons together with the Rebels, it worked like a charm, helping spark UNLV to 19 wins and a recent appearance in the Mountain West title game, where they lost to a red-hot Boise State squad.

A standout receivers coach with stops mentoring NFL talent at Texas and Pitt, Marion is now close to a deal to run his own college football program.

Earlier today, the Sacramento Bee listed Marion as a finalist, and noted he may be the leading candidate for the job, and this evening CBS Sports shared that Sacramento State is finalizing a deal to bring Marion in as their new head coach.

A former AFCA 35 Under 35 selection, it would mark the first college head coaching opportunity for the 37-year old.

Before making the jump to college football, the former Tulsa receiver was a head coach in both California and Pennsylvania, leading Waynesboro Area HS to a conference title back in 2014.

He takes over a Sacramento State program that has aspirations of joining the newly re-formed Pac-12 despite coming off a 3-9 season last fall.
