Boston College announces football-only deal with Adidas

After the rest of the athletic department announced the signing of a new apparel deal with New Balance, after their relationship soured with Under Armour as UA pulled out of various apparel deals with college athletic departments, Boston College has announced that their football program will now be outfitted by Adidas.

The deal with Team Three Stripes covers three years and takes them through the 2023 season.

Athletic director Pat Kraft had the following to share on the deal, who shares that the deal will gift their football players and staff with more gear "than ever before":

"This is an exciting partnership with adidas and one that will truly benefit our student-athletes. In choosing adidas, we were able to join forces with a global brand that is one of the leaders in football footwear, apparel and accessories. Our student-athletes will be outfitted with more footwear and apparel than ever before with this new partnership."

The contract will begin on June 1, 2021.

"Everyone in our football program is thrilled to be part of the adidas family," Jeff Hafley shared. "From the moment we told our players, to sharing the news with our recruits, it was met with a ton of excitement and anticipation of joining the brand with the three stripes."

The reaction on social media has been overwhelming positive, as folks note that Kraft was able to ink a deal with a local company in New Balance that has deep ties to the Boston area and some great partnership for the majority of athletics, while football will be able to utilize their relationship with Adidas to help with recruiting.
