After leading Conference USA in total offense in his lone season calling the offense at Jacksonville State last season, Clint Trickett stepped away from that role for the opportunity to join the SEC ranks at Arkansas as the Razorbacks new quarterbacks coach.

Now, Trickett is set to land another coordinator opportunity.

Sources confirm to FootballScoop that Clint Trickett is leaving Ryan Silverfield's staff for the opportunity to become the offensive coordinator for Mike Locksley at Maryland.

CBS Sports has shared the same.

The move comes, as CBS Sports shares that Pep Hamilton is expected to shift into a senior advisor type role for Mike Locksley's program.

A former college quarterback who logged three seasons at Florida State, where he backed up future NFL quarterback EJ Manuel, Trickett transferred to West Virginia for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, starting seven games in his first season in Morgantown before being named the starter heading into his senior season where he threw for nearly 3,300 yards and 18 touchdowns.

He got his coaching career started at East Mississippi CC (JC), where he got some screen time on the first two seasons of the hit Netflix show Last Chance U.

After two seasons there, Trickett got the opportunity to join Lane Kiffin's staff at FAU, where he coached the tight ends. Following Kiffin's departure for Ole Miss, Trickett was elevated to co-offensive coordinator and moved to quarterbacks under new head coach Willie Taggart.

Trickett would spent one season in that role before leaving to join the Marshall staff of Charles Huff, and following a season working with the receivers with the pass game coordinator title, was elevated to offensive coordinator and moved to quarterbacks for the 2022-23 seasons.

Before landing at Jacksonville State as first-year head coach Charles Kelly's play caller in 2025, Trickett spent a year as the tight ends coach and pass game coordinator at Georgia Southern.

The opportunity at Maryland marks the 34-year old's first opportunity to call plays at the Power Conference level.

At Maryland, he joins a Terps staff coming off back-to-back disappointing 4-8 seasons that followed three-straight bowl trips for Mike Locksley's program. Locksley is 37-49 leading the Maryland program as he enters a critical seventh season.

Trickett will inherit an offense led by Hamilton last season that finished 94th nationally in 3rd down conversion rate (37%), 95th nationally in scoring (23.5 points per game) - which ranked 13th out of 18 Big Ten programs - and 124th nationally in rush offense (104 yards per game).
