After nine seasons under Justin Wilcox, Cal decided to take the program in a new direction at the end of November following a 31-10 loss to Stanford.
Wilcox went 48-55 leading the Bears. He is owed just shy of $10.9 million as part of his contract buyout.
In a search led by GM and former NFL head coach Ron Rivera, Cal moved quickly to secure Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi.
Tosh agreed to a five-year deal to take over at his alma mater, where he played from 2000 to 2005 before later coaching the defensive line under Jeff Tedford, where he began to develop a national reputation as one of the elite recruiters of college football.
With the Ducks in the College Football Playoff, Tosh is splitting his time between responsibilities.
Here is where you can track how he is putting together this staff.
