South Dakota (FCS): The University of South Dakota Football Sports Performance Department is now accepting applications for highly motivated volunteer interns for Summer 2025 (Late May-July). These positions are UNPAID. Successful candidates will work directly with football and assist with all training sessions in compliance with NCAA rules. Responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to, the following: hands on experience assisting the staff in all aspects of the strength and speed programs. Data collection and interpretation; setting up and breaking down of training sessions; assisting with routine maintenance of training facilities; as well as other assigned duties. This internship program emphasizes educating, empowering and utilizing interns in a way that will help them become better coaches that are equipped to best serve student athletes and operate professionally at a high level. Minimum Requirements: a current CPR/AED certification. Ideal candidates possess a strong work ethic, punctuality, high level of attention to detail, desire to learn, and a passion to become a strength and conditioning professional. Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field. SCCC, CSCS, USAW certifications or working towards them. Experience as a collegiate athlete. The official start date will be May 19th and go through the end of July. There is no monetary compensation so if this position is not an economically feasible option for you, please do not apply. North Carolina Central (FCS): The Sports Performance Department at North Carolina Central University is accepting internship applications for the 2025 SUMMER Semester. This is an UNPAID internship that will begin May 21st, 2025. This volunteer position offers Division I experience and the opportunity for future recommendations or opportunities in the field of strength and conditioning. Candidates will COACH and will have a chance to serve as top assistants for select varsity sports. Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Must be working towards a degree in the field of exercise science or similar. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field and pursuing SCCC, CSCS or relevant certification from one of the following: NSCA, CSCS; CSCCA, SCCC; USAW and CPR –First Aid certification. Candidates additionally have the option of completing the internship practicum for the CSCCa Examination.
