Notre Dame: The University of Notre Dame Sports Performance team is currently accepting applications for a combined Strength and Conditioning / Sports Nutrition internship position for either the Fall 2015 and/or Spring 2016 semesters. This intern position has heavy influence and responsibilities in the area of Sports Nutrition. Interns will have the opportunity to work with all 25 Olympic Sport Teams at the University of Notre Dame. Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in an institution of higher education AND be receiving class credit for the internship experience. Candidates must possess or be working toward a certification through the CSCCa, NSCA, USAW, CSSD, and/or RD. Candidates must have outstanding work ethics and attention to detail. Candidates must have a strong desire to work with a collegiate athletics program. Candidates ideally would possess one year of previous experience in collegiate athletics. Compensation: There is no monetary compensation provided. However, the position offers the opportunity of advancement in the field of strength and conditioning, sports science, and sports nutrition, as well as the fulfillment of credit hours toward a program degree. Maryland: The University of Maryland Football Strength and Conditioning Department is now accepting applications for one (1) Volunteer Intern for the Fall of 2015. This internship will begin August 9th and will conclude at the end of the fall semester. This is an unpaid position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; assisting with the supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program for the University of Maryland Football team, set up and break down for daily training, routine maintenance and cleaning of the training facilities, and completion of the internship curriculum. Required qualifications include a strong work ethic, completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, and a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional in the collegiate or professional setting. Postgraduate applicants are also required to hold a certification from a recognized governing body (NSCA or CSCCA) and all undergraduate applicants should be working towards their certification. Other preferred qualifications include previous coaching in a collegiate setting and personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport. Applications will be taken until the positions are filled. Marshall: The Marshall University Strength and Conditioning Department (Olympic Sports) is seeking motivated individuals to fill 1-2 volunteer coach positions for the Fall 2015 Semester. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Setup, breakdown, and implementation of training programs for 12 intercollegiate teams and assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the equipment and facility. This is an unpaid position, but the candidate will gain critical experience working and learning in a Division I setting. The internship will begin August 17th, 2015 and will end December 11th, 2015. The candidate must be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field and be CPR and First Aid certified. Preferred qualifications: CSCS, USAW, SCCC. South Florida: The South Florida department of athletic performance is accepting applications for the position of strength and conditioning interns for the FALL 2015 semester- START DATE would be August 17. The successful candidates will be working with a variety of sports. Compensation: Division 1 experience with earned recommendation for future career opportunities. No monetary compensation will be provided. Must have a strong work-ethic and a desire to become a strength and conditioning coach. Lynchburg: Ed Smith has been named head strength and conditioning coach at the school. Smith served as the assistant strength coach at Webber International (FL) last season.
