Cal: The University of California - Berkeley is accepting applications for a summer internship position that would work with the Football Strength and Conditioning Department. This is an unpaid position that is responsible for assisting the California Strength & Conditioning Staff implement the off-season program and assist in all departmental functions. Required qualifications include completion or current pursuit of a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in an exercise science or related course of study and possess a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Potential candidates must also possess the ability to communicate and a have a strong work ethic. There is no monetary compensation. Prairie View A&M: The Prairie View A&M University Strength and Conditioning Department is looking for two to three motivated individuals who are interested in volunteer internship positions. A bachelor's degree in Health and Human Performance, Sport Science, Kinesiology or related field is preferred but not required. Applicants must be in pursuit of obtaining a CSCS, USAW, or SCCC certification as well as being CPR/First Aid/AED certified. Individuals who apply should be highly motivated, have strong work ethic, punctual, and have a strong desire to become a future strength and conditioning coach. Daily duties will consist of, but are not limited to, aiding the strength and conditioning staff with assessments of student athletes, sitting in on meetings when designing programs, implementation of programs, performing proper lifting techniques, motivating athletes, and general maintenance/cleaning of the strength and conditioning facility. Interns will receive experience working at a Division I program, better understand program design, and have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. There is no monetary compensation for these positions. Start date is June 1, 2014 through the summer.
