The innovative new ways that college football programs are finding to offer season tickets is rapidly evolving, and at the forefront of that evolution is Kentucky - who is now offering a "Pocket Pass".
The Pocket Pass is a completely digital package that becomes available on Monday and will give interested fans access to all seven of Kentucky's home games for just $25 a game. The location of the seats will be delivered to the cell phone of the purchaser electronically each week, and it is guaranteed that Pocket Pass Members will get a lower-level seat in at least two of the seven homes games in the fall.
What makes the package extra enticing is that people that purchase it will not have to pitch in to the K-Fund and other fees that regular season-ticket holders have to contribute to for their seats.
This is truly a great option for tech-savvy fans who don't want to pay the fees and "donations" typically attached to season tickets. Sign up for the Pocket Pass for a reasonable price, get cheap tickets with solid seats, and be able enjoy tailgates and environment on game day is.
Earlier this month, Oregon State rolled out a package called SQUAD aimed at connecting with their young alumni base.
Ideas like this will continue to evolve in college athletic departments across the country as they become more and more common, so it will be interesting to see where this trend heads as improving the fan experience continues to be a focal point. Maybe next they can include a VIP pass at the concession stands to skip the lines?
Just an idea...
