Tom Herman's coordinators and assistants are getting raises at Houston (Tom Herman)

After a season that saw the Cougars finish 13-1 with a big win over Florida State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl to end the year, Tom Herman's coordinators and assistant coaches are getting raises in H-Town.

According to a report from Joseph Duarte, defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and offensive coordinator Major Applewhite have both received one-year extensions as well as raises and Orlando remains the highest paid non-Power 5 assistant in college football.

The Houston assistants are also being rewarded for a job well done, with the salary pool increasing 6% to $2.235 million for 2016.

Year two for Tom Herman and his staff should be interesting, with their opening game taking place against Oklahoma at NRG Stadium in Houston, followed by a trip to Nippert to play Cincinnati a few weeks later. The Cougs will face UConn at home in a big revenge game from 2015 (which marked their only loss), with home games against Tulsa, UCF, Tulane, and Louisville, and road games at Texas State, Navy, SMU, and Memphis.

As always, stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest.
