Southern Miss: The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach. Responsibilities: This position will work directly with the Director of the Reed Green Coliseum (men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball) Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to; aid in the design and implementation of specific strength & conditioning programs for assigned teams; supervise both individual and team workouts; maintain team and individual records; implementation, demonstration and instruction of Olympic weightlifting techniques; provide appropriate maintenance and upkeep of all equipment and the weight room; motivate both small and large groups of student-athlete. Compensation: Full tuition waiver and a monthly stipend are included. Requirements: Must have a minimum of two years of strength coaching experience at the collegiate and/or professional team level. National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) or Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) certification required. Candidates must be admissible to the graduate program, GRE is required. Preferred Qualifications: Competitive athletic experience (Preferably basketball or volleyball), proficiency with the Olympic movements, high character, effective written and verbal communication skills, a tireless work ethic, positive energy, an attention to detail, a sense of urgency and a servant’s outlook. North Alabama: The University of North Alabama Department of Strength & Conditioning is accepting applications for PAID Intern position(s). Intern Estimated Dates: January 11th – May 6th, 2016. The successful candidate reports to the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, while working collaboratively as a member of the UNA athletics department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assist with the design and implementation of sport-specific training protocols for designated teams; weight room supervision; daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment; and other duties assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning coach. Ability to work, write, speak and communicate effectively with staff, administrators and sport coaches. Ability to effectively teach and execute proper technique of lifts and drills. Assist with coordinating, evaluating, compiling and communicating performance targets. Completion of various educational assignments during the internship. Interns will gain experience working at the Division 2/Gulf South Conference level, UNA gear, potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit (if applicable). Experience in an NCAA four year college or university weight room working with a variety of teams. Possess the following personality traits; strong work ethic, punctuality, enthusiasm. Preferred qualifications include: SCCC, CSCS, or USAW and CPR/AED certification or background as a competitive collegiate athlete. Temple: Temple University Strength and Conditioning Department for Olympic Sports is looking for qualified strength and conditioning volunteer interns for the Spring 2016 semester. The internship will begin January 11, 2016 and run until April 22, 2016. Preferred qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in exercise physiology or related field; NSCA-CSCS or USAW certifications; CPR certification. One year of previous experience in a strength and conditioning program or have previous collegiate athletics experience is preferred. Compensation: This is a non-paid, Olympic sports position. Internship curriculum, practical strength and conditioning experience, mentorship, and hours toward undergrad/ graduate or CSCCa practicum. North Texas: The University of North Texas Department of Strength and Conditioning - Strength and Conditioning Mentorship Program is searching for aspiring strength and conditioning coaches to fill volunteer mentorship coaching positions available for the 2016 SPRING semester (81/11 – 5/13). Prospective mentorship candidates will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of the North Texas Strength and Conditioning coaching staff, a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCCa) approved mentor, as well as gain in-valuable hands-on experience working with Division I athletes (both Football and Olympic sports). Mentees will have the opportunity to participate in the UNT Strength and Conditioning Professional Development & Educational Curriculum. Please note, this is a voluntary position and there is no monetary compensation. Applicants should be committed to developing themselves as a strength and conditioning professional and devoted to working their way up in the strength and conditioning coaching profession.
