Southern Miss: Southern Miss is looking to hire a graduate assistant: sports performance nutritionist. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or a related field, required; Registered Dietitian (RD) with active status through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed Dietitian in the State of Mississippi, required by the beginning of the Fall 2015 semester; Acceptance into the Southern Miss Graduate School for the Spring 2016 semester, required; Sports Nutrition experience with a Sports Dietitian preferred. CSSD Preferred or progression towards certification. Job Summary In conjunction with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and the Head Athletic Trainer, develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive sports nutrition program at The University of Southern Mississippi. This position includes a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. The Sports Performance Nutritionist GA position is a unique position in which the Graduate Assistant (GA) is the lead position and has opportunity to lead the entire department, which consists of USM’s 16 inter collegiate sports. Nutrition interns are welcome to work under the lead role. Preferred qualifications: Experience in collegiate athletics and knowledge of NCAA bylaws. Primary responsibilities include planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of the sports nutrition services provided to student-athletes. More specifically, the duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but will not be limited to: Provision of individual and team nutrition counseling and education; development of sports nutrition standards and programs including in-practice/game fueling, post-training recovery, and game day meal plans; Assistance with meal planning and travel nutrition; body composition and hydration testing and assessments;, develop and design educational handouts and materials (as necessary); provide grocery store tours, cafeteria tours, cooking demonstrations;, supervision of intern and practicum students; assist with recruiting trips and events; assist with maintaining and distributing food products at fueling stations (as needed); and management of USM’s Sports Performance Nutrition social media accounts. North Alabama: University of North Alabama: Department of Strength & Conditioning is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Interns and/or Volunteer Assistants for the Fall Semester of 2015. (Projected Dates: August 24th – December 4th). Responsibilities include: assisting with the supervision and training of the University of North Alabama’s strength and conditioning Varsity programs; assisting with daily administrative and maintenance items; completion of educational curriculum and assignments during the internship. Applicants must commit to a minimum of 20 hours a week, have a strong work ethic, very reliable, a desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, CPR/First Aid certification and previous coaching experience. Preferred qualifications include: pursuing Bachelors or Masters Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field; NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa-SCCC, USA-W and/or FMS certifications. Individuals chosen for position are subject to University background checks and standard hiring procedures. This is a Non-Paid/Volunteer position. Interns and/or Volunteer Assistants will receive experience working at the Division 2/Gulf South Conference level and receive college credit (if applicable).
