Mark Helfrich explains why committing to "the process" is like raising kids (Mark Helfrich)

While the phrase "the process" is something that most coaches attribute to Nick Saban, the fact is embracing the process (and not necessarily the end result) is a belief that a lot of coaches across the country buy into.

Not surprisingly, one of those coaches is Oregon's Mark Helfrich. At his Sunday presser, following their big win over Stanford, Helf was asked whether players seem to have a renewed appreciation for wins this season after the Ducks started the season 3-3. Since then, they've rattled off four straight wins.

"That's the total belief and commitment in a process is when you work at that process, without a tangible result - without a positive tangible result. That's commitment."

"When you're committed to the process, and things aren't great, it's just like raising kids, sometimes you have to do things that aren't fun, or aren't great but you know that's going to benefit them down the road."
