In a move sure to fuel the vocal supporters of the "it's time to pay college players" movement, Michigan is collecting over $10,000 from Paramus Catholic HS (NJ) for their game against St. Frances Academy (MD) in a game that will take place at The Big House.
According to the facility rental contract obtained by MLive, Paramus Catholic will shell out a total of $10,345 to be exact for the following:
- $2,300 for use of the field (5:30pm - 9:30pm)
- $1,000 for use of the locker room
- $2,500 for cleaning services
- $720 for the use of facility staffers
- $1,500 for HVA / first responders
- $1,275 for police presence
- $300 for parking attendants
- $750 for "game personnel"
The MLive piece points out that Michigan "will see no money (and spend no money) on the event".
Interestingly enough, NCAA rules prohibit Harbaugh and his Wolverine staff from attending the game. HOWEVER, Paramus players can conveniently stick around for an unofficial visit to Michigan's game on Saturday against Hawaii.
Coincidence? Not a chance. Paramus' former head coach Chris Partridge is coaching the Wolverine linebackers after spending a season in an off the field role, Rashan Gary - the top defensive line recruit in the country (now on Michigan's roster as a Freshman) is a Paramus Catholic product, and the team is loaded with top-tier talent again in 2016.
The game, which is schedule to take place on Friday, September 2nd, is just a week after The Big House hosts a total of 14 teams in a seven-game kickoff of the Michigan High School football season including Muskegon (MI) vs. Ann Arbor Pioneer (MI), East Kentwood (MI) vs. Farmington Hills Harrison (MI), and Detroit Catholic Central (MI) vs. Sterling Heights Stevenson (MI).
