Coastal Carolina: Coastal Carolina University is now accepting applications for the position of Fall Strength and Conditioning intern. You will have the opportunity to assisting with supervision and execution of strength training programs for various sports, teaching student athletes’ proper technique and equipment use, attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities, participation in weekly projects, and professional development throughout the internship program. Intern qualifications include: punctuality; enthusiasm; strong work ethic; and strong communication skills Preferred qualifications include: senior status or completion of a bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field; SCCC, CSCS certification; CPR certification. Interns will receive experience working for a highly competitive Division I University, have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities, and receive college credit if applicable. Candidates must have a strong desire to become strength and conditioning professional. Liberty: Per source, Liberty has hired Eric Overland as their director of Olympic sports. Overland comes to Liberty from Abilene Christian Academy.
South Dakota: The University of South Dakota is now accepting applications for 1-2 VOLUNTEER interns for the Fall 2015 semester. Interns will work with football and Olympic sports. Duties include: weight room maintenance, aiding in supervision of sessions and completion of USD’s performance coach development program. Qualifications include: desire to be a strength coach or be in the strength and conditioning field, STRONG WORK ETHIC, WILLINGNESS TO LEARN, QUEST FOR KNOWLEDGE, PASSION for helping athletes and the program as a whole, great communication skills and a good organizer of people and resources. Interns will earn a hands-on approach to their education as it relates to strength and conditioning and potential for future recommendations for the advancement of the intern’s career and professional development. Applicants must have completed or be in the process of completing their bachelor’s degree. Michigan: Florida A&M director of strength and conditioning Russell Barbarino has joined the Michigan strength staff.
Henderson State (D-II - AR): Robert Espinoza, who served as strength and conditioning coordinator and wide receivers coach, has left the staff for a position at Pasadena Memorial HS (TX).
