After Chad Morris left the Clemson offensive coordinator post to become the head coach at SMU, Dabo Swinney had a major decision to make; promote an assistant (or two) on staff that are more than capable of running the offense, or take his pick of a top assistant at another program to take the reigns.
With the numbers that the Clemson offense has put up the last few years, Dabo's open coordinator spot was appealing to a number of coaches, but he ultimately decided to stay in house with the promotions of running backs coach Tony Elliott and receivers coach Jeff Scott, both to co-offensive coordinator roles.
With Spring practice now underway for Clemson, Dabo was asked yesterday if he is concerned that neither of his coordinators workwith the quarterbacks, as Chad Morris did.
"Nah, coaching is coaching," Dabo responded. "Everyone has a job to do, and everyone has their plate full."
"When you're coordinating on top of all of it, it's a lot of work," Dabo explained before going on to explain that their staff structure and dynamic is something he's really confident about right now.
