UTSA: The University of Texas at San Antonio Strength and Conditioning program is now accepting applications for SPRING 2020 intern candidates. This is a VOLUNTEER, UNPAID position that will be responsible for assisting the UTSA Strength and Conditioning department with our Division I programs. Assigned sports will be delegated by our full-time staff. Our intern development program will give you a hands-on experience training Division I college athletes and the tools for future professional opportunities. Required qualifications include: completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in exercise science or a related course of study, a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, possess a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Other preferred qualifications include a strength and conditioning certification from an accredited organization, previous coaching experience, personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport, and proficiency in teaching and performing Olympic movements. There is NO MONETARY COMPENSATION so if this position is not an economically feasible option for you, please do not apply. Official start date will be January 15, 2020 and continue through May 8, 2020. After the completion of SPRING semester there may be opportunity to continue through SUMMER pending performance evaluation. Minnesota: The University of Minnesota Athletic Performance Department is seeking highly motivated applicants to fill SPRING 2020 (January 13th – May) internship positions. Individuals will gain knowledge and experience in a Division I Athletic Performance setting. Qualified candidates will work directly with the following sports: basketball, volleyball, wrestling, baseball, softball, soccer, swimming & diving, track & field, gymnastics, tennis, and rowing. This internship can be used for course credits. Daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Download/analyze Heart Rate and GPS data from training sessions Analyze daily HRV/wellness scores/surveys Conduct and analyze Force Plate/Watt Bike data Professional development, including various educational assignments during the internship Assisting with supervision and execution of Athletic Performance programs Assisting with daily operations and facility/equipment maintenance Responsibilities will be assigned as they are earned. Interested applicants must exhibit effective communication skills, positive energy, attention to detail, sense of urgency and strong work ethic. QUALIFICATIONS: Currently pursuing bachelors/masters in exercise science or related field, certified in CPR/First Aid, a strong desire to become a Collegiate Athletic Performance Coach and pursuing CSCCA or NSCA certification(s), and proficient in technology. COMPENSATION: This is an un-paid volunteer position. Interns will have the potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities. Mississippi Valley State: Mississippi Valley State University, invites applications for the position of Student-Athlete Health & Wellness - Graduate Assistant Coach. The placement will involve a number of the following duties & responsibilities: Assist the Student-Athlete Health Wellness Coordinator in the day to day operations of the facility and provide assigned teams and student-athletes with programs/training that is up to date, attend weekly training seminar on teaching correct techniques for appropriate workout regimens, teach athletes proper technique and perform diagnostic biomechanical analysis of an athlete’s movement, assist with supervision of the weight-room (equipment maintenance and cleaning, exercise supervision, safety issues etc.), program design & responsibility for 2 - 4 assigned sports teams, assist with the input of test data, research, and testing, and discussion of professionalism, budgets, weight room safety and set-up. GAs will receive full tuition remission for graduate courses. Meals and housing will come at your own expense. Please evaluate if this position is economically feasible for you. Qualifications: Potential candidates must have a strong desire to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. All candidates must be enrolled for the 2020 Spring Semester and maintain satisfactory progress towards degree completion to maintain the position. Required: Undergraduate degree in related strength and conditioning field; 1 – 2 years coaching experience, in the weight room, is preferred. Applicant should hold, or be working towards, a Strength and Conditioning Certification from one of the following organizations: NSCA – CSCS, USAW, CSCCa, and must be up to date on CPR/AED certification. Must be accepted into one of Mississippi Valley State University’s Master Programs. The priority date for spring applications is October 15th. Preferred: A Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Sports Medicine. Either a NSCA- CSCS or CSCCa certification. USAW certification is preferred with either of the 2 strength and conditioning certifications (CSCS or CSCCa). GAs are asked to make a minimum 16 to 24-month work commitment to Mississippi Valley State, depending on the master’s program and hours allowed each semester.
