UCLA: The University Of California, Los Angeles is accepting applications for the position of Athletic Performance Intern with Olympic Sports. The Winter-Spring internship will run from January-June 2020. Duties include assisting the full-time Athletic Performance coaching staff in all aspects of UCLA Athletic Performance program including but not limited to warm-ups, strength and speed training, conditioning, and athlete assessment. Minimum requirements include, a bachelor’s degree or a degree in progress in an exercise science related field, CPR/AED certified, and a strong desire to pursue a career in collegiate strength and conditioning. Effective August 1st, 2015, NCAA legislation mandates that only certified personnel can coach athletes unsupervised, therefore, CSCS or CSCCA certification is preferred. Upon selection, UCLA Athletics will issue and require completion of Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) Mandatory Reporter training. These positions are for VOLUNTEER coaches, compensation will not be provided including parking/transportation costs. Fresno State: Fresno State University is accepting applications for VOLUNTEER Intern Coaches to contribute to the strength and conditioning program for the 2020 Spring Off-Season training period. Qualified candidates will work directly with FOOTBALL, and will have the opportunity to assist in all aspects of training in compliance with NCAA rules. This is an UNPAID opportunity that provides experience assisting the Football Strength and Conditioning Staff with the implementation of individualized, comprehensive, sport-specific injury prevention, and performance enhancement programs. Potential candidates must possess an enthusiastic spirit, strong work ethic and character, desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, and demonstrate effective organization and communication skills. Required qualifications include current CPR/ AED certification, as well as achievement or current pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science (or related course), and SCCC or CSCS certification. This internship is expected to begin Monday, January 13th, 2020 and ends Friday, May, 8th, 2020 with the potential to extend the internship into the Summer Pre-season pending positive evaluation. During the 3-month commitment, interns will receive experience working at the Division 1 level, have the potential to EARN recommendations for future career opportunities and receive college credit if applicable. Temple: The Temple University Football Strength & Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for VOLUNTEER coaches for the Spring Semester of 2020. The internship is scheduled to begin Monday, January 13 th , 2020 and will run through Friday, May 1 st , 2020. This is an unpaid position; however, this opportunity offers a valuable professional recommendation for advancement in the field of strength & conditioning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with the daily implementation of In-season training, set- up and breakdown of daily strength and conditioning training sessions, routine maintenance, cleaning and organization of the training facility, Catapult data collection, as well as participation in an internship curriculum. Prerequisites include CPR/AED Certification, as well as completion of, or working towards, a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. ECU: East Carolina University Strength and Conditioning is currently accepting applications for unpaid/volunteer internship positions for this upcoming Spring Semester to work with Olympic Sports. This position offers the experience of working with a Division 1 Strength & Conditioning program, with the guidance under a CSCCa approved mentor. This internship will allow you to gain experience and use your talents in athletic performance. You will gain first-hand knowledge from a staff proficient in areas such as: athletic performance, sport psychology, exercise physiology, speed development, power lifting, and Olympic lifting. Qualifications: Candidates must possess or be working toward a certification through the CSCCa and/or NSCA. a. A CSCCa 640-Hour Mentorship can be completed during this internship. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written; Candidates must have a current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification; Candidates must have solid work ethic and attention to detail.  Candidates must be available for hours of operation with their designated teams and/or designated by the Director of S+C; Candidates must have a strong desire to become a strength and conditioning professional. Responsibilities will include assisting with team training sessions, professional development assignments, facility maintenance, and other tasks as designated by the Strength and Conditioning staff. Previous experience as an athlete is strongly desired.
