Wisconsin: The University of Wisconsin-Madison Athletic Performance Department at the Kohl Center is accepting applications for spring of 2020 (January-May) strength and conditioning internship positions working specifically with four elite level teams, Men’s and Women’s Hockey and Basketball programs. Ideal candidates will work next to high-level coaches who have experience coaching collegiate athletes to the professional level. Candidates will have exposure to different implementations of PRI and RPR techniques. Candidates will be involved in collection and analysis of technologies including but not limited to Firstbeat, Athos, VX Sport and force plates. Candidates will participate in educational sessions focusing on all areas of sports performance, such as program design, data collection and analysis, nutritional and supplement programming. The GOAL of this internship is to expose and educate candidates to multiple training modalities through hands on experience. This is an unpaid internship but can provide credit for either undergraduate or graduate academic degrees in related fields. RESPONSIBILITIES: Include but not limited to assisting Strength and Conditioning coaches supervise and properly implement training programs, manage daily facility maintenance, set-up and break down of training sessions, and completing responsibilities as they rise from S&C staff. REQUIREMENTS: Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field. Aspire to become collegiate strength and conditioning coach and working towards or currently have NSCA or CSCCA certification. Candidates must hold strong work ethic, a readiness to learn, and have previous experience in the field. All applicants must be CPR/First Aid certified. Virginia: The University of Virginia is accepting applications for Strength and Conditioning Volunteer Interns for the 2020 Winter/Spring. The internship will start January 13, and continue through the duration of Spring Practice. You will complete a 9-week education program, developed by the UVA Strength and Conditioning Staff. Interns will work primarily with football. This is an unpaid internship. Responsibilities will include: Daily weight room maintenance, set-up, tear-down, assist with supervision of weight room and field work. Interns must be motivated, able to follow specific directions, and have a strong work ethic. Interns will receive hands on experience to multiple training methods, Tendo Units, and Catapult. Interns should be working towards a Bachelor’s Degree, and certifications through the CSCCA-SCCC or NSCA-CSCS. Interns will gain collegiate experience at the Division I level, and potential for future recommendations for future career opportunities. West Alabama: The University of West Alabama Strength and Conditioning program is accepting applications for the Spring Internship program. This is an UNPAID position. Applicants should have or be working towards a B.S. in Exercise Science or a related field. Applicant should also have or be working towards a professional certification (CSCS or SCCC). Responsibilities of this position would include, but are not limited too; assist with the implementation of strength, speed, and conditioning training for all sports at UWA, assist with setup and breakdown of equipment, and hands on coaching of DII athletes. UT Chattanooga: The UT Chattanooga Athletic Performance staff is looking for qualified, hard working and driven candidates to fill Spring 2020 Internship positions. The internship is an in-depth Collegiate Strength & Conditioning experience with Master Strength & Conditioning Coach and CSCCa President/Co-Founder, Ethan Reeve, that will provide an intensive hands on education in the weight room, with a classroom component geared toward prepping for the CSCCa Certification. Candidates will also gain the required 640hrs under a Master Strength & Conditioning Coach for the CSCCa Certification. This internship will provide the opportunity to work hands on with Football, Wrestling, Soccer, Track, Tennis and many other teams. The goal of this internship is to mentor young coaches and help them gain graduate assistant or full time positions upon completion. There is no monetary compensation or housing provided for this internship but candidates will receive some athletic gear to wear and valuable experience in Collegiate Strength & Conditioning. Preferred candidates should possess or be working towards an Exercise Science, Kinesiology or Physical Education related degree. A CSCS, USAW or CSCCa certification is preferred but not required. Texas Southern: The Texas Southern University Strength and Conditioning Department is accepting applications for Volunteer Intern Strength and Conditioning Coaches for the Spring semester of 2020. Projected dates of the Internship are January 13 th through May 15 th 2020 with the possibility of an earning an extension. This is a voluntary position and will receive no monetary compensation. Priority consideration will be given to Candidates who possess or are working towards Certification through the NSCA or CSCCa and are CPR / First Aid / AED Certified. Desired attributes include outstanding organizational and computer skills, great work ethic and professionalism. Previous coaching and / or playing experience is a plus. Verbal communication skills with diverse populations is a must. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Set up and breakdown of training sessions for all sports, general maintenance and upkeep of Athletic Facilities, communication with Sport Coaches, Athletic Training staff and Administration, assist with Olympic Sports with the possibility of working with Football. Must be able to physically demonstrate strength and Olympic lifts as well as speed progressions and change of direction movements. Added responsibilities as earned, such as, input into program design and leading groups / teams. Our goal is to develop COACHES. Selected candidates will receive valuable experience in the day to day operations of a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Department, program design and implementation, nutrition, speed, agility and explosive training. Robert Morris (FCS - PA): Robert Morris University is currently seeking THREE qualified volunteer internship candidates for the 2020 Spring Semester. The strength and conditioning program will run from January 6 th (date flexible) to May 1 st . This is an unpaid position however, it is acceptable to have a part-time job to assist with personal finances. Chosen candidates can also have the opportunity to complete internship hours required for the CSCCa – SCCC exam under the mentorship of the Head Strength Coach. Interns will gain hands on coaching experience in a collegiate setting, education in program design and application, have the potential to earn future recommendations for career opportunities and receive college credit if applicable. The internship program’s goal is to advance the intern’s future in the strength and conditioning profession. Minimum Qualifications: Pursuing or have attained relevant certifications: SCCC, CSCS, USAW, FMS, etc. Previous coaching experience in a collegiate, professional, high school or private sector setting.
