Syracuse: Syracuse University Department of Athletic Performance for Football is accepting applications for a VOLUNTEER Intern Strength and Conditioning coach position for the Spring 2020 semester. This is an UNPAID volunteer position, but academic credits can be applied towards an Exercise Science or related degree program if applicable. The main responsibilities of this position will include: involvement in the supervision of safety during training sessions, assisting with daily administrative, maintenance items, and operations for Football. This position will provide: valuable practical experience working with Division 1 collegiate football student-athletes and coaches, an extensive professional development program, CSCS prep, and multiple opportunities to expand network connections within the profession. Qualifications: Seeking a college degree or completion of a Bachelor’s Degree and current CPR certification. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in an exercise related field and CSCS, SCCC, or USAW certification. Evidence of project completion, consistent attention to detail, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment will be highly considered. All employees must comply fully with all NCAA, ACC (or other conference) and Syracuse University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Washington: The University of Washington Football Strength and Conditioning staff is now accepting internship applications for the 2020 Winter Quarter (January 6 – March 13). These are UNPAID positions, but may provide credit for either undergraduate or graduate coursework. Ideal candidates should be highly motivated, have a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow in the strength and conditioning profession. Candidates must be CPR/AED certified and possess or currently working towards certification through the USAW, NSCA, or CSCCa. Interns will assist in the implementation of all facets of the strength and conditioning program, complete a comprehensive educational curriculum and perform any other duties assigned by the strength and conditioning staff. Michigan: The University of Michigan Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning Department is currently accepting applications for Volunteer Strength and Conditioning Interns for the Winter 2020 term (January-May). The deadline to apply is November 1, 2019. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to interact with coaches and athletes at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics. This vital experience will aid interns by preparing them to meet the demands of graduate assistantships and future professional positions in the field of Strength and Conditioning. Duties include assisting the Director, Head, Assistant and Graduate Assistant Coaches in all facets of the University of Michigan Strength and Conditioning program including but not limited to warm-ups, strength and speed/agility training, conditioning, athlete assessments and facility and equipment upkeep. Specific responsibilities will be based upon experience and education, as well as initiative and desire to learn. Continuing education, being imperative to excelling as strength and conditioning professional, will be made readily available. Staff educational sessions will take place weekly, covering a variety of sports performance topics. Interns will not only be expected to attend, but be actively involved in these sessions as well. Each successful candidate will serve as an integral member of the Strength and Conditioning Staff. The intern will report directly to the Strength and Conditioning Coaches, and will work daily under the supervision of the Director, Assistants and Graduate Assistants. Houston Baptist: Houston Baptist University: HBU’s Athletic Performance Staff is looking for a Graduate Assistant for the Spring of 2020. The most important aspect of this position is their humility. We are only interested in teachable and humble candidates. The Graduate Assistant must be a hungry, life-long learner who is wanting to go above and beyond in every task we ask them to do. The Graduate Assistant must be desiring a mentorship relationship with both the Football and Olympic Athletic Performance Director. We are looking for GA's who are highly motivated and passionate about training athletes in regards to physical preparation, injury reduction, and most of all character development. The GA will be mentored in motivation strategies, on-the-job communication skills, periodization and programming, movement coaching, and professional career development. The start date is negotiable but we are looking to start January 6, 2020. This is a 1 to 2-year commitment. Nicholls State (Thibodaux, LA): The Nicholls State University Strength & Conditioning Department has IMMEDIATE OPENINGS for FALL 2019 and SPRING 2020 NON-PAID/VOLUNTEER internship positions. Successful applicants must not only have the desire to become a strength and conditioning professional, but also possess a relentless work ethic and positive attitude. This is a coaching intensive internship with the opportunity for a lot of practical and hands on experience. The interns will be required to complete assigned readings, programming projects, and on floor coaching throughout the duration of the internship. The intern will earn the opportunity to work directly with FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, and BASEBALL, along with assisting the strength staff with all other OLYMPIC sports teams and needs of the strength and conditioning department. Applicants must also be willing to work early mornings and late nights during the week and weekends. Applicants should be working towards completion of a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Southern University: Southern University is currently accepting applications for 1-2 VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT STRENGTH COACH INTERNS. This internship is designed to be the most hands on in the nation; responsibilities include assisting with Football, being in control of 1-2 Olympic Sports, and participating in the continuing education curriculum. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled. Position will provide on campus housing and meal plan. Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree, current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications, willingness to work a demanding and varying schedule, and effective leadership skills. Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor’s or Master’s in a relevant field, certifications from recognized organizations (NSCA, USAW, CSCCa, etc.), previous Strength & Conditioning coaching experience, and/or previous experience as a collegiate athlete. Angelo State: Angelo State University is accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 2020 Spring semester. The primary responsibilities of this position are to design and implement efficient and scientific training programs for assigned teams under the approval of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Strength and Conditioning Staff in all aspects of training for all sports, program administration, working directly with student athletes to teach proper lifting technique, assess and document progress of the student athletes during training, and maintain a clean, sanitized weight room. As a graduate assistant within ASU Athletics, you are expected to maintain professionalism, the Angelo State University graduate assistant minimum GPA of 3.0, and must be working towards a post-baccalaureate degree. All applicants may be subject to a background check. Minimum Qualifications: bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field, apply and be accepted into graduate school at ASU, possess or be working towards a nationally accredited certification (SCCC or CSCS), and MUST be CPR/AED certified. Preferred Qualifications: a nationally accredited certification (SCCC, CSCS, USAW), personal involvement in a collegiate competitive sport, and at least one (1) internship in the strength and conditioning field at the collegiate setting.
