Justin Hager, an assistant football coach and head girls basketball coach at Mountain Pointe HS (AZ) the past two seasons, has resigned from his posts facing termination after it was found that he had been sharing confidential team information from his team with opponents in both sports, a story in the Ahwatukee Foothill News points out.
District officials believe they uncovered an email address linked to Hager that showed him sharing everything from playbooks, to game plans, play calls, formations, and even ineligible players with opponents dating back two seasons.
Why would someone in a profession geared toward kids choose to do something like this? So far, school officials were unable to provide a motive for Hager's decision to share the information, according to reports.
The investigation of the covert email address (he used walterpayton12@yahoo.com) revealed that hundreds of emails were exchanged with opposing coaches, including former Chandler HS (AZ) head coach, and current Arizona State running backs coach Shaun Aguano.
As the girl's basketball coach, Hager had an impressive 64-31 record, including a trip to the state semis in the 2016-17 season.
Most puzzling about this is why a coach would choose to actively do something to hurt and directly work against the kids that they work with everyday. It makes no sense.
