Gary Kubiak tells Denver Broncos he's retiring (gary kubiak)

Adam Schefter was the first to put the word out early this morning, and Gary Kubiak has informed the Broncos he will not return next season

Kubiak was hired to lead the Broncos two years ago, and in his first season he led the franchise to a Super Bowl 50 win over the Carolina Panthers to help Peyton Manning ride off into retirement on top.

That Super Bowl season, they finished the year with a 12-4 mark, and this year the Broncos entered the final week of the regular season 9-7 and in third place in the AFC West before their 24-6 season-finale win over the Oakland Raiders today.

Overall, Kubiak was 21-11 in his two years with the Broncos.

Prior to coming the Denver, Kubiak was the head coach of the Houston Texans for over seven seasons, compiling a 61-64 record before being fired mid-season in 2013 after a 2-11 start. That rough start came after Kubiak had led the Texans to 10, and 12 win seasons in back to back years in 2011 and 2012. From there, he joined John Harbaugh's staff with the Ravens and served as offensive coordinator for a season before heading west to Denver.

Kubiak's coaching journey began as the running backs coach at his alma mater at Texas A&M after his nine-year career as a player in the NFL ended. From there he went to the Niners (QBs coach), and then to the Denver Broncos (OC and QBs), before getting his head coaching career started with the Texans franchise.
