Watch MACtion Action: Fake-spike TD lifts Western to miracle win

Western Michigan's dreams of overtime slipped wide left Wednesday night with a missed extra point inside the final minute.

Who needs overtime? Not the Broncos.

Recovering an onside quick and moving quickly downfield, Western Michigan then converted one of the easiest, wide-open touchdown passes to win a game in the wacky history of MAC football.

As the Rockets' defense seemed to expect the Broncos to spike the ball to stop the clock after a deep pass into Toledo's red zone, it left uncovered WMU wideout Jaylen Hall.

Nobody seemed to notice hall. Except for quarterback Kaleb Eleby.

Eleby snapped the ball, looked left as the Toledo defense mostly stood around, and Eleby lofted a feather-soft pass to Hall for the game-winning score.

It capped a frantic comeback for the Broncos, who trailed by 10 points three different times on their home field in this game.

Down 38-28 with less than a minute to play, Eleby plunged in from a yard out to trim the lead to six, 38-34, after the extra point was kicked wide left.

Broncos kicker Nick Mihalic dived onto the loose ball, and three plays later, Eleby tossed the game-winning score to push WMU to 2-0 and leave the Rockets at 1-1.
