Urban has gone on the record many times sharing that the most important hire for a head coach is his head strength coach because of the time that the coach spends around the kids, and how important he is in getting the culture formed.
In his presser last week, Urban shared that he wouldn't be raiding the Ohio State staff for his longtime right hand man, Buckeyes strength coach Mickey Marotti. That left many wondering where he would go for his strength coach hire.
This morning we got that answer.
While appearing on 97.1 The Fanβs Morning Juice show out of Columbus, former Ohio State linebacker and former Buckeye assistant strength coach Anthony Schlegel shared that he had accepted the head strength coach job on Urban's Jaguars staff.
While his time working under Marotti and Meyer in Columbus was a vital piece of landing the job, Schlegel is perhaps best known for corralling and body slamming a fan who stormed the field the field back in 2014 when the Buckeyes were taking on Cincinnati in a moment that quickly went viral.
See that moment in the clip below.
As we shared earlier this morning, Urban has some key interviews lined up for his coordinator positions early this week as well with former LSU passing game coordinator and NFL veteran play caller Scott Linehan as well as Ravens defensive line coach Joe Cullen and former Falcons interim head coach Raheem Morris on the defensive side of the ball on the docket.
Hear Schlegel's full morning show interview, where he shares the news, here.
