Former UCF head coach and athletic director Gene McDowell passed away at 80 years old this morning. Please join us in praying for his family. McDowell produced an 86-61 mark leading the program from 1985-1997.

Ole Miss: SMU defensive line coach Randall Joyner has been offered the same role at Ole Miss sources tell FootballScoop. We are told David Johnson first reported the offer. We are told a decision is expected tomorrow.

Atlanta Falcons: Arthur Smith is expected to add a Big Ten defensive coordinator to the staff to coach defensive backs and former Bears assistant Ted Monachino as outside linebackers coach, Tom Pelissero reports.

LSU: Ed Orgeron has announced the hire of Daronte Jones as the Tigers' new defensive coordinator.

UT-Martin (FCS): Brandon Butcher, who previously coached the nickels at Southern Miss, has accepted the linebackers job, per source.

Kent State: Former Findlay (D-II - OH) defensive coordinator Jason Makrinos has been hired as Kent State's cornerbacks coach. Makrinos spent 2007 as a GA at Kent State.

Michigan: UT-Martin defensive line coach Ryan Osborn, who was expected to join Kirby Smart's staff at Georgia, has reportedly agreed to join Jim Harbaugh's staff as analyst instead tweets Matt Zenitz.

Delta State (D-II - MS): Head coach Todd Cooley has signed an extension taking him through the 2024 season.

Arizona State: The offensive line job is open once again after Indianapolis Colts assistant offensive line coach Klayton Adams has reportedly backed out and will remain in Indy.

Clemson: Dabo Swinney may have missed the national title game with covid had Clemson made it, according to a Tigers player.

College Football Playoff: Texas AD Chris Del Conte, Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart, NC State AD Boo Corrigan, Pro Football Hall of Famer Will Shields and Virginia Union VP Joe Taylor will begin 3-year terms on the CFP selection committee this fall. Iowa AD Gary Barta will serve a second season as chairman.

Coastal Carolina: Slade Carroll, who just wrapped up his playing career as a running back at South Carolina, is beginning his coaching career at Coastal Carolina where he will help out with the running backs.

Kent State: Findlay (D-II - OH) defensive coordinator Jason Makrinos has accepted the corners job on the Kent State staff.

Arkansas State: Michigan State on campus recruiting coordinator Tessa Akers has joined the Arkansas State staff as director of recruiting.

Vanderbilt: Norval McKenzie has been announced as run game coordinator / running backs coach, and two strength staff hires are now official.

NC State: Maryland receivers coach Joker Phillips is expected to join the NC State staff per the AL.com guys.

Montreal (CFL): The Alouettes have hired Russ Lande as director of US scouting. Lande had been serving as a regional scouting consultant for the Calgary Stampeders.

Auburn: Boise State offensive graduate assistant Jeff McDaniels has joined the Auburn staff in the same capacity source tells FootballScoop. Prior to joining the Boise State staff he spent three seasons as the defensive backs coach / recruiting coordinator at his alma mater, Davidson (FCS - NC).

Arkansas: Southern Miss offensive line coach / run game coordinator Cody Kennedy is expected to join Sam Pittman's staff as tight ends coach per multiple reports. Kennedy and Pittman previously worked together at Georgia.

Edmonton Eskimos (CFL): Scott Milanovich has resigned from the head coaching job to pursue an NFL opportunity. Sources tell FootballScoop that Milanovich, although it is not a done deal quite yet, is expected to join the Colts staff. The coaching veteran leaves Edmonton without coaching a game for the organization, and he previously served as quarterbacks coach for the Jaguars for three seasons before returning to the CFL to become a head coach for the first time in his career.

South Carolina: Maryland director of recruiting operations Taylor Edwards is expected to join Shane Beamer's staff Matt Zenitz tweets.

Carroll (D-III - WI): Carroll University is looking to hire a defensive stipend coach. Candidates will be responsible for a recruiting territory, coaching their own position group, film breakdown, game planning with the DC and other duties assigned by the Head Coach. Start date will be ASAP. Competitive stipend, possible housing opportunity will be available. Please send a resume and references to Head Coach Mike Budziszewski at mbudzisz@carrollu.edu.

Auburn: Per source, Illinois defensive analyst Brent Jackson is going to Auburn as a graduate assistant working with the defensive backs

Chicago Bears: Chicago has officially named former CFL star Henry Burris to an offensive quality coach role. Burris spent 2020 on staff as part of the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship.

LSU: Ed Orgeron reportedly has his new defensive coordinator.

Alabama: Nick Saban is eyeing a Vols assistant to add to his super-staff.
